Yesterday we listened to the man behind our lecture series and had a city tour with a guy who bused us around to a mosque, a Taoist temple, a place that shows a model of the city and all the reclaimed land. We had so many questions and we finally felt like we were getting answers (my question stumped the speaker). But after 4 hours of touring and 2 hours of lecture Heather and I were not ready to go to Sentosa island with the group for the historic wax museum. Instead we went to dinner and back--a vegetarian indian restaurant that was good but pricy. I was ready for Heather to say she wanted meat but no she ordered, picked at her food, and then said that wasn't what she wanted. She wanted meat. For the love! she insists that she likes lots of different food but when i asked her what indian she likes, she says she just eats chicken curry.
So i made it my mission to break off from the group AND Heather today on our free day. Surely things don't die on Sunday like they do in the South. Well, in Chinatown they do. And because of the time change I am just ready to rock at 7 am. Was even rushing to be early for the flea market. . .that doesn't exist. And nothing else really opens until 10. I wore my feet out looking around at empty streets (thing is there's no in between when shops open it's rush hour all hours so being alone isn't so bad)So when I finished going through a kind of torust mall (with giant cow statues outside) and saw it raining I decided I had earned my very American looking sandwich shop, except well, looks can be deceiving. Let's call it fusion cooking. Panini bread (check) with red caviar, seafood mayo, and eggs, and lettuce and tomato. Fabulous! except the fish eggs kept sticking between my teeth.
