Okay, I just needed to warm up. I finally started getting sleep at night, and I started not hanging out with Heather. It's made a world of difference. Yesterday I went to the Asian Civilization Museum that others had reccommended, Wonderful! I could have spent longer there (it is ALL of Asia after all). The galleries were broken up into regions with touch screen computers to explain some of the traditions. They explained the weaving of hemp clothing and the wearing of jewelry (one tribe names a baby and present sit with a ring of silver to go around the neck, and a lock, called a soul lock to keep it in the body). But the best part was the stuff meant for kids. In the China gallery they had an exhibit explaining different tea customs, how chopsticks might have started, and costumes and headresses to put on. Of course I took pictures, don't worry. They had water brushes and pads for practicing calligraphy, and magnadoodle easels to practice different pottery designs. ANd, AND! We get to the bottom floor exhausted and this student guide comes out and eads us through the history of Hinduism and Buddhism, little refresher of my eastern religion class. Elain and I went into the tourist strip of restaurants and picked the one with plastic chairs, not as expensive. Good food and a view of the river at night.
