Kuala Lumpur is a big city with lots of traffic and pollution. We'll be here a week, but the only free time here was yesterday. We came in on an early flight, and I find not like the hotels only makes me more amenable to wandering. So Ernie and I wandered together. We're an odd match; he's almost my dad's age, wears black rockports with white socks (also just like my dad). But he's peace corps and that means he's willing to sweat a little and doesn't mind when we have to ask for directions. So we went to the lake gardens which included a hibiscus garden-blah. a orchid garden-beautiful. And a bird park-too expensive. There's also a butterfly park, but it had started to rain so we figured there wouldn't be much to see. And when we got to the Islamic heritage museum it was a half hour before closing. So we walked back, but we did manage to use the train and bus line. And bought postcards. The rest of the week we'll be smiling and shaking hands and i figure if the lectures are boring i can just write you a postcard.
