This morning some of the group and I went to the University of Malaysia to speak to an American culture class. We didn't get a brief of what she wanted, so at the beginning f class when she asked if we could speak about the early settlements we became a little flustered. Instead we spoke about present-day america. The students were limited in their English but they asked enough questions to keep us busy. Fun language questions like "what does 'a block away' mean?" To taxes to our thoughts on Israel and our foreign policy. I was so disappointed to have to tell them that msot Americans don't understand the history of the conflict, why we chose a side and stuck with it and don't care what our government does because it does not affect our daily lives. Interestlying enough Condoleeza Rice was in KL while we were there and a huge protest was held, which the embassy was quick to tell us to stay away from.
