5:30 we go down to breakfast. The staff is already there and setting things out. So we fill up our plates at which point Raj tells us we’re not allowed to eat. Just coffee and juice. The staff isn’t even paying attention so we wait until he goes down to check on bags telling us “no, take your time.” And then we eat. Randy comes up a few minutes later to say we have to come down to check on bags. It seems to defeat the purpose of having porters if we have to babysit them on their way to the bus anyway. So we step down to the lobby. Keep in mind this is our 6:00 bus to get on a 8:20 train. Every time that Raj has insisted we be on time several have been late. We’ve left 15, 30, 45 minutes late every single time. So Elaine and I go to the bathroom at 3 minutes to 6. I leave the bus singing (lack of sleep) and crudely announce that I’m going to pee. And yet 5 minutes later Raj retrieves us to tell us the bus has left without us. They got about a block before they realized something dear to their hearts was missing. Elaine. And that other girl. It’s early enough that it’s funny. We then drive 2 more blocks and stop at the station. We then have 2 hours left to wait in an empty station because they’ll only let people load onto the train 15 minutes before leaving. I’m so glad we hurried.
